The Hague - Saba:
The International Court of Justice announced Monday that Cuba has submitted a declaration that it will join the "genocide" case filed by South Africa against the Zionist entity in the court.
The court said in a statement "Cuba, based on Article 63 of the Statute of the Court, has deposited in the court's registry a declaration of intervention in the case concerning the application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip."
The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated in a statement issued by it that "Havana shares the concerns expressed by the Republic of South Africa against "Israel" due to the genocide in Palestine."
The statement said "The court is going through a complex historical turning point, as the credibility of the legal system built after World War II is threatened with collapse forever."
Cuba also stressed that as a party to the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, and under the obligations set forth therein, it is “obliged to take all possible measures to prevent and punish the crime of genocide and against those who attempt to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.”
In late 2023, South Africa filed a lawsuit against “Israel” for genocide, and several countries joined the case, including Nicaragua, Colombia, Libya, Mexico, Palestine, Spain and Turkey.
