Washington - Saba:
US media revealed that US President-elect Donald Trump may visit China within 100 days of his term on January 20.
The Wall Street Journal quoted sources close to the president-elect as saying that the latter expressed interest in visiting Beijing within the first 100 days of his term.
The source indicated that Trump's goal of this visit is to "strengthen relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping," which have been strained between Washington and Beijing during the presidency of outgoing President Joe Biden.
According to the newspaper, the final decision regarding the trip at the beginning of the second term has not yet been made, and Trump's transitional team did not respond to a request for comment on the visit.
Trump visited China for the first time in 2017 during his first term, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, where Trump and Xi held talks on relations between the United States and China, and the two sides agreed that the relationship between the two countries is shaped by common interests and a shared commitment to addressing global challenges.
