Washington - Saba:
In the last hours of his presidency, outgoing US President Joe Biden issued a pardon for a number of his family members from any possible charges that may be brought against them after his departure from the White House.
According to the statement published by the White House last night, Biden considered that his family members are being subjected to "severe attacks and threats", and that "there is no basis to believe that these attacks will stop."
Biden stressed in his statement that pardoning his family members "should not be considered an admission that they committed violations." He added: "This is about an unjustified and politically motivated prosecution."
The pardon includes President James Biden's brother and his wife Sarah Jones Biden, President Valerie Biden's sister and her husband John Owens, and President Francis Biden's brother.
