Samir Baja'ala, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, met today with Dr. Inshirah Ahmed, the Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Yemen.
The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation and partnership in the field of social protection for women, especially in the areas of rehabilitation, training, economic empowerment, and health.
In the meeting, Minister Bajaala stressed the importance of strengthening social protection programs, which are among the priorities of the government of change and construction, and at the forefront of the interests of the revolutionary and political leadership.
He noted the role and services of the United Nations Population Fund in helping Yemen.. stressing the importance of expanding its activities to reach all vulnerable groups and those in need of support and assistance.
He pointed out that the projects of the United Nations Population Fund will receive all care and support and overcome difficulties to complete them, in a way that benefits women and society in the capital and all governorates.
For her part, the Fund's representative reviewed the Fund's activities and projects in the field of reproductive health and social protection, through 60 centers; spread throughout the governorates' secretariats.
She pointed out that supporting families and empowering women require diversifying training programs in the fields of mobile phone, electricity and car maintenance, translation, midwifery "obstetrics" marketing products, and everything that would improve income.
She appreciated the cooperation and interest of the Ministry's leadership in the Fund's projects and services, and meeting the needs of all vulnerable groups, especially those with special needs.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the National Program for Productive Families, Dr. Ahmed Shuja' Al-Din, and the Director of the Field Office of the United Nations Population Fund in Sana'a, Ghamdan Mufreh.
