The leaders of the tourism business in Sana'a concluded their consultative forum chaired by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Ali Al-Yafei, where they affirmed their support for the government's directions in building an integrated tourism sector that benefits from the historical and cultural heritage of Yemen.
Participants stressed the need to "develop domestic tourism, simplify procedures, and achieve sustainable tourism development", with a focus on raising the efficiency of workers and strengthening control over establishments.
The importance of establishing a modern database of tourist sites, issuing guides and promotional brochures, in addition to adopting Ibb as the capital of tourism, Taiz as the capital of culture, and Al-Jawf as the ancient capital of Yemen, was emphasized.
The recommendations included the implementation of a comprehensive survey of tourist establishments, updating regulations, and activating the National Institute of Hotel and Tourism, in addition to producing films and promotional publications for tourist sites.
The final statement condemned Donald Trump's statements regarding the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, stressing Yemen's full support for the Palestinian cause and rejecting the plans of the Zionist occupation. He also denounced the killing of poet Rashid al-Hatam in Marib, calling for a boycott of American and Israeli goods and support for Yemeni military power.
The participants pointed to the damage caused to the tourism sector due to the aggression and blockade, calling for the implementation of measures to limit the repercussions of this, especially with the targeting of infrastructure and tourist facilities. They affirmed their commitment to confront all attempts to undermine national values and strike the home front, stressing that the Yemeni people will continue to defend their legitimate rights.
The forum discussed reports on the challenges facing tourism and mechanisms for its development, and the participants listened to the interventions of the directors of tourism offices in the governorates on the most prominent problems and ways to address them according to the available capabilities.
