ANKARA - Saba:
The Turkish Football Federation referred Portuguese Jose Mourinho, coach of Fenerbahce, to the Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday due to his "unsportsmanlike behavior" and racist comments after his team's derby match against Galatasaray. Mourinho faces a suspension of up to six months if the charges against him are proven.
Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk and members of the technical staff of both teams were also referred to the Disciplinary Committee. Meanwhile, Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi was included in the case for "violating the regulations" despite not participating in the match.
These developments come after Galatasaray announced its intention to file complaints with UEFA and FIFA against Mourinho on charges of racism, which Fenerbahce denied and considered a "baseless accusation."
Mourinho sparked controversy with his post-match comments, describing Galatasaray players' protests against refereeing decisions as "jumping like monkeys".
