Barcelona turned the tables on their hosts, Atletico Madrid, and overturned a deficit to win 4-2 in stoppage time in the match that brought them together on Sunday evening, in the top match of the 28th round of the Spanish Football League.
The home team took the lead with two consecutive goals scored by Argentine striker Julian Alvarez and Norwegian striker Alexander Sørloth in the 45th and 70th minutes, respectively.
But Barcelona came from behind and pulled off a powerful comeback, scoring four consecutive goals. The first came from Polish striker Robert Lewandowski in the 72nd minute, and his teammate, Spanish striker Ferran Torres, equalized in the 78th minute.
Spanish rookie Lamine Jamal put the Catalan team ahead in stoppage time in the second minute of added time. Torres then scored his second goal, and the fourth for the Blaugrana, as the match was drawing to a close at the Civitas Metropolitano de Madrid Stadium in Madrid.
Barcelona continued their winning streak with their seventh consecutive victory, bringing their tally to 60 points and reclaiming the top spot in the La Liga standings on goal difference from second-placed Real Madrid, although the Catalan team also has a game in hand.
Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, suffered their second consecutive defeat, leaving them with 56 points and in third place in the standings.
