New York - Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that the accumulation of waste in the Gaza Strip endangers people's health and lives.
UNRWA added in a post on the X platform on Friday that many are forced to live in tents amidst piles of waste.
It stressed that the worsening waste crisis exacerbates environmental and health challenges, indicating that the struggle of Palestinians to survive in dire humanitarian conditions has become increasingly difficult.
On Thursday, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said that no humanitarian aid has entered Gaza for more than three weeks, the longest period the Strip has gone without any supplies since the beginning of the 18-month Israeli genocide.
Lazzarini stressed the need to "lift the blockade and reopen the crossings for the regular flow of humanitarian and commercial supplies, stop the bombing, and resume the ceasefire in Gaza."
