The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that it had thwarted Ukrainian army attempts to advance toward Belgorod Oblast.
The clashes resulted in the deaths of 60 Ukrainian soldiers and the downing of three Ukrainian drones.
Yaroslav Yakimkin, head of the press center for the Russian Sever forces, stated that forces targeted Ukrainian soldier concentrations in the villages of Krasnopolje and Ogrody in the Sumy region, killing 60 Ukrainian soldiers and destroying an armored combat vehicle, six vehicles, and six field artillery pieces, including a 155mm Krab self-propelled artillery system.
The Russian Defense Ministry also stated that soldiers of the Donskoy Kazakh Air Assault Regiment seized control of an important Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold in the border area of Kursk Oblast, capturing four soldiers and seizing combat vehicles.
In a related development, the ministry reported that its forces shot down three Ukrainian drones overnight over Belgorod Oblast, where they were detected by Russian air defenses.
