Gaza - Saba:
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stated on Friday that the targeting of civil defense and Red Crescent personnel in Rafah constitutes a full-fledged war crime and a blatant violation of international law.
In a statement, the movement called for "the formation of an international committee to immediately investigate the crime of targeting civil defense and ambulance personnel while they were performing their humanitarian duty, and to hold the fascist Zionist war criminals accountable."
It explained that "what was revealed days after contact was lost with the Civil Defense and Palestinian Red Crescent crews, who had entered the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood and the Barakasat area in Rafah during the Israeli enemy army's terrorist attack, and the discovery of the bodies of several of their fifteen members buried in the sand next to their destroyed vehicles, constitutes a heinous crime and a flagrant violation of international law, and a disregard for all humanitarian treaties and conventions, as well as for the values and foundations upon which the international system is based."
The movement affirmed that "targeting Civil Defense and ambulance crews and preventing rescue operations, in an ongoing crime over the months of genocide in the Gaza Strip, confirms that the brutality of the Zionist terror machine knows no bounds."
It also emphasized that "the international silence regarding these crimes constitutes unacceptable complicity and places the world before a historical responsibility to stop this brutal genocide and unprecedented violations."
Hamas called on the United Nations, its institutions, and international humanitarian organizations, most notably the International Committee of the Red Cross, to "take urgent action to form an international commission of inquiry into this horrific crime and to enter Rafah to uncover the fate of thousands of civilians with whom no contact has been made."
