Geneva - Saba:
A total of 174 women and 322 children were martyred over eight days in the Gaza Strip due to the resumption of the Israeli occupation's aggression on the region since the early morning of March 18.
This was reported by the Special Representative of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Palestine, Maris Gimon, during a press conference held on Friday.
She stated that from March 18 to March 25, 830 Palestinians were martyred, including 174 women and 322 children, with an additional 1,787 injured.
She emphasized that this means 21 women and over 40 children were martyred daily, confirming that this is "not collateral damage, but a war in which women and children bear the greatest burden."
The UN official pointed out that "women and children make up nearly 60% of the victims in the recent events in the Gaza Strip," which she described as a "horrific testament to the indiscriminate nature of this violence."
She also warned of the "grave consequences for women and girls in Gaza if the fragile ceasefire collapses."
