Saraya al-Quds, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, announced this evening, Saturday, the detonation of a pre-planted explosive device in a Zionist military vehicle that had infiltrated areas east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Saraya al-Quds said: "Our fighters were able to detonate a pre-planted explosive device in a Zionist military vehicle that had infiltrated areas east of Khan Yunis, simultaneously with our shelling of the incursion area with several mortar shells."
This came shortly after the Israeli army announced the expansion of the ground operation in the southern Gaza Strip. A statement issued by its spokesman, Avichay Adraee, read: "In the past few hours, Israeli army forces have launched a ground operation in the al-Janina neighborhood of Rafah, to expand the defensive security zone in the southern Gaza Strip."
