The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Saturday issued a statement on the end of the second round of indirect negotiations in Rome.
According to Tasnim International News Agency, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement, the second round of indirect negotiations between Iran and America, which began on Saturday afternoon in the Italian capital Rome, in the presence of Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi and US President's Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Steve Witkoff, and coordinated and facilitated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, concluded with an understanding to hold a new round of negotiations next week.
During this round, the chief negotiators from the Iranian and US sides outlined the general framework of the negotiations and exchanged views on a number of key issues related to the lifting of sanctions and the nuclear file.
The two sides agreed to continue the next round of indirect negotiations on Saturday in Muscat.
"Given the need for further research and scrutiny at the technical level on the two key issues of 'effective lifting of sanctions' and 'building confidence about the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program,' it was decided that technical delegations from the Iranian and US sides would hold a meeting next Wednesday in Muscat, under the auspices of the Omani Foreign Ministry," it concluded.
