Madrid – SABA:
Spanish rider Álex Márquez of the Ducati-Gresini Racing Team clinched the title at the Spanish Grand Prix, the fifth round of the MotoGP World Championship, after winning the main race on Sunday.
With this victory, Márquez has taken the lead in the MotoGP World Championship standings, amassing 140 points—just one point ahead of his brother Marc Márquez in second place and 20 points clear of Italian rider Francesco Bagnaia in third.
Márquez crossed the finish line ahead of Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha rider and 2021 World Champion), while Bagnaia secured third place on his Ducati.
This marks another milestone for Spanish riders in MotoGP, as Marc Márquez had recently won the Qatar Grand Prix less than two weeks ago at the Lusail International Circuit.
The intense rivalry between the Márquez brothers and other top contenders promises an exciting season as the championship heads into its next rounds.
