The Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Monday mourned the passing of pioneering artist Taqiya al-Tawila, who died after a life dedicated to artistic work.
In a statement, the ministry highlighted al-Tawila as one of the pioneers of Yemeni women's singing. She performed numerous songs and patriotic anthems, serving as a significant figure in Yemeni art history.
The statement noted that al-Tawila began her career early, becoming a prominent voice in Yemeni folk singing. She played a key role in reviving traditional songs, especially in Sana'a's style, and enriched the artistic scene with patriotic songs and music for women's concerts.
Her repertoire included dozens of songs and hymns, with music composed by many Yemeni artists and lyrics by numerous poets.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism extended its deepest condolences to the artistic and cultural community and to the family of the deceased, praying for her soul and for solace for her loved ones.
