Sana'a University on Tuesday launched the Tenth Scientific Conference for presenting graduation research by the 33rd batch of the Faculty of Pharmacy, alongside the Ninth Pharmaceutical Research Exhibition under the slogan: “Scientific Research: The Foundation of Drug Manufacturing.”
The three-day conference will review 11 scientific research papers covering fields such as pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, and clinical pharmacy, prepared by students of the 33rd graduating class under the supervision of pharmacy experts and professors at Sana'a University.
Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Dr. Ahmed al-Sabati congratulated the graduates who have acquired knowledge and practical skills in pharmacy sciences. He highlighted the alignment between the graduation research discussions and the conference and exhibition, noting that the research topics address critical pharmaceutical and health-related issues.
Dr. al-Sabati affirmed the university’s commitment to supporting students pursuing postgraduate studies at the master's and doctoral levels, aiming to produce impactful pharmaceutical research that contributes to strengthening national pharmaceutical industries and achieving medicine security.
He emphasized that pharmaceutical research forms the backbone of drug manufacturing and healthcare, pointing out that the Faculty of Pharmacy is the leading academic institution in Yemen in this field, with specialized academic staff capable of supervising and advancing scientific research.
Vice Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Yahya al-Dukhain congratulated the graduates on their success in the field of research, which the faculty seeks to enhance through such scientific conferences. He also reviewed the themes and significance of the research to be discussed, particularly in improving drug production and extracting medicinal compounds from Yemen’s rich natural resources.
Dr. Mahmoud al-Buraihi, Head of the Conference's Scientific Committee, stressed the need for cooperation between the Faculty of Pharmacy and pharmaceutical companies to ensure high-quality medicine production and achieve pharmaceutical security through the application of scientific research.
He called on pharmaceutical companies to open their doors to students as part of university-industry collaboration and to support scientific research that serves community health. He noted that the state's efforts to ensure drug security begin with research and end with quality-controlled medicine availability.
Graduating student Abdulsalam al-Rasmi and Qusai al-Yaari, representing the Student Forum, spoke about the knowledge they gained during their studies, affirming that the conference is more than just an event—it is a scientific platform that fosters innovation in drug development.
They expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to equipping them with scientific and practical skills and who helped organize the tenth conference and the ninth exhibition.
The opening was followed by the first sessions of the conference, where student research papers were presented and discussed in the presence of academic staff and specialists.
