Sana’a – SABA:
The joint team between the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC) and the Ministry of Administration, Local and Rural Development held its second meeting today to follow up on preventive measures addressing key dysfunctions within local authority units at the central, governorate, and district levels.
The meeting, chaired by SNACC member Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Kameem and attended by team head Azal Hashem (Head of the Prevention Division at SNACC), along with deputy ministers Ammar Al-Harb (Development Sector) and Jamal Al-Alawi (Oversight Sector), focused on reviewing the Authority’s notes and recommendations on the Ministry’s proposed executive matrix for corrective action.
Dr. Al-Kameem emphasized the need to move into the implementation phase of the matrix, incorporating the discussed feedback, within a maximum of one week. He also called for immediate on-ground visits to governorates and districts, as outlined in the matrix, and stressed the importance of achieving tangible outcomes by executing tasks swiftly, reporting results without delay, and addressing all irregularities in accordance with the law.
Deputy Minister Al-Harb reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to tackling long-standing structural issues and implementing reforms, many of which were captured in the preventive matrix developed by the Authority. He noted significant progress and institutional shifts that have already begun to address documented flaws.
The meeting was also attended by the directors of SNACC’s Preventive Measures and Legislative/System Development Divisions, Abdulmalik Al-Jahmi and Khaled Al-Kuhlani, along with other members of the joint team from both institutions.
