SANA'A, Nov. 28 (Saba) - The Yemeni Oil Company (YOC) has stated that the fines imposed on Yemen for delaying the oil ships that have been detained by the aggression for 6 months exceeded $56 million, which equals YR34 billion.
The fines are additional costs the Yemeni people pays, said YOC executive manager engineer Ammar al-Adhraie in a protest gathering for the YOC's employees and unionists held in front of the United Nations office in Sana'a on Friday.
The released quantities of oil within 6 months is only 23 % of the actual need in the normal supply situation, he said.
The released quantities by the aggression coalition were only 360,000 tons, while the total actual normal supply to the market is 1,542,000 tons.
There are currently ten oil ships being held off Jizan, al-Adhraie said. One of them has been holding for 8 months, that imposes an over $5 million fine, which is more than 70 % of the cargo cost.
The Yemeni people has suffered a lot during the first half of 2020 as a result of the oil crises created by the coalition, he said, adding that such crises caused indirect losses exceeded $2 billion.
The YOC executive manager holds the United Nations and the forces of aggression full responsible for the situation in the coming days because of the continuous marine piracy and the detention of oil ships.
