BAYDA, Mar. 17 (Saba) - A woman on Wednesday gave birth to a baby with one eye in Radaa city of Bayda province, a medical official in Bayda said on Thursday.
In a statement, Hussein al-Abbasi took his wife Zahra al-Abbasi to al-Hilal maternity hospital in Radaa for delivering the baby. The wife gave birth to a baby with one eye who was placed in the nursery department to follow up on his health condition, the official added.
He said the congenital deformities that afflict some newborns during the current period are the result of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression's use of internationally prohibited weapons to bomb civilians in various Yemeni areas.
The official added there are birth defects that have occurred to newborns in several Yemeni areas due to the aggression’s use of prohibited weapons and throwing them on the heads of citizens.
He explained the birth defects have nothing to do with genetic factors, especially since the mother had previously given birth to children without birth defects.
The medical official said for the first time this case occurs, but it is found in medical books that a child has one eye, one eye socket or orbit and one optic nerve; it is called the case of the one-eyed child or known by cyclops.
