[27/ March/2023]
SANA'A March 27. 2023 (Saba)- Al-Sayyed Abdul ‎Malik Badruddin Al-Houthi delivered Speech on Occasion of National Day of Resilience 1444 A.H.

He started "I seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan, the outcast."

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

Praise is to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. I believe that there is no god but Allah, the Sovereign and the Manifest Truth, and that Muhammad, our master, is His servant, Messenger, and Last Prophet.

O Allah, confer Your salat and blessings upon Muhammad and the Family of Muhammad as You conferred Your salat and blessings upon Ibrahim and the Family of Ibrahim. You are Owner of Praise, Owner of Glory! And be pleased with Muhammad's good companions and all Your righteous servants and mujahidin.

Brothers and sisters, peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

We speak today on the occasion of the National Day of Steadfastness, which coincides this year with the blessed month of Ramadan and its blessed days. All days of our people represent steadfastness: Since the beginning of this aggression until today, our people through their patience, cohesion, steadfastness, and Jihad, as well as their permanent stationing army units at the fronts, express and make known their steadfastness in a real, practical way.

This occasion is an important annual occasion meant to highlight important points pertinent to the aggression against our people, their great steadfastness due to their reliance on Allah (Glory be to Him), and their faith in, awareness of, and adherence to their just cause.

The first thing to start with in this occasion is to thank Allah for His assistance, victory, support, and kind, great, comprehensive care for our dear people. Our people who have relied on Allah, trusted Him, depended on Him, and taken their decision to stand up to this aggression primarily on the basis of this faith (depending on Allah and trusting Him) felt Allah's marvelous providence and kindness as well as His support and assistance throughout all these years. So we thank Allah, Who has assisted us, granted us success, made us steadfast, and supported us and Who first and foremost has the credit for our people's steadfastness. Then we stress an important point which is the value and significance of depending on Allah—through which we really have understood Allah's saying, {'And whoever puts his trust in Allah, He [Allah] is sufficient for him. Surely, Allah is to accomplish His purpose'}[At-Talaq 65:3]—even at a time when our people were suffering from the failure of Arabs and Muslims to support our people, as a lot of them supported the aggression and very few chose to remain silent and failed to show support. However, we lived Allah's saying {'And Allah suffices as a protector. And Allah suffices as a supporter'}[An-Nisa 4:45]. With the exception of the free people among this Ummah who had a clear position to support our dear people, many [of the sons of this Ummah] failed to show support (just as they failed to support the Ummah's causes including the Palestinian cause), kept watching, and remained silent despite the magnitude of the aggression and the manifestation of the injustice committed against our dear people.

Usually in this occasion, we first focus on clarifying the position of our people in order to strengthen and confirm it as a right, lawful position that is a must by all religious, humanitarian, and moral considerations: to remain steadfast in confronting the unjust, criminal, brutal aggression which was launched against our country and people by the American-Saudi coalition and standing up to it as a responsibility and priority above all other priorities. Allah granted our people success to adopt this position against the aggression—that is, to remain steadfast, and confront the aggression, and stand up to it with all steadiness, courage, devotion, and perseverance. This is, as we said, a religious, patriotic, moral, humanitarian, faith-based responsibility. This is why it is the good, right, lawful position that our people had to adopt, and they did.

The war of the coalition against our people and country is by all means unjust and has neither justification nor legitimacy, and the coalition's practices are criminal since the first moment when it began its aggression against our country. With regard to its goals, it seeks to occupy our country, dominate our people completely, and confiscate our freedom and sovereignty. On other words, this is about enslaving us. The daily practices of the coalition throughout the past eight years of the aggression fell within this context: injustice, occupation, aggression, and crime on a daily basis. It commits various crimes every day; therefore, justifying and legitimizing that aggression is not possible, no matter what arguments are provided by false witnesses who try to legitimize it or what particular concepts or terms they use for that purpose. Indeed, whatever those concepts, titles, or names, they neither legitimize those brutal, terrible, hideous crimes that are revolting to the human conscience nor legitimize those unlawful goals represented in occupying our country, dominating our people, confiscating our sovereignty, and destroying our dignity. Such goals cannot be legitimized by concepts or false witnesses, liars, people of falsehood, or imposters, no matter what they say or do.

The American and Israeli way of unlawfully targeting peoples is in the very nature of this aggression because it is carried out under American supervision. It is basically an American aggression launched through regional proxies upon whom it relied so as to avoid losses in carrying out this aggression. In addition to America's main role comes the contributive role played by the British and the Israeli regime. So, the Americans play the main role, while the British and the Israeli regime play a contributing role by taking part in incitement, the pushing and planning process, and other types of contribution in this aggression.

With regard to our dear people, it is they who possess the true legitimacy in their position. Their position in confronting the aggression and the aggressors is the truly legitimate position, and they possess the Quranic legitimacy (the legitimacy of the Quran) and the legitimacy of the right to confront aggression. The position of our oppressed, assaulted people is based on the verses and book of Allah and on the divine permission: Allah (Glory be to Him) is the One Who has told us this in the Holy Quran: {'Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory'}[Al-Hajj 22:39-40]. He (Glory be to Him) also said, {'And the one who defends himself after having been wronged, there is no blame on such people. Blame, in fact, is upon those who wrong people and make mischief on earth unjustly. For such people there is a painful punishment'}[Ash-Shoura 42:41-42].

As for the coalition of aggression, which has relied on the American cover at the political, diplomatic, and media levels and on some international institutions that turn a blind eye to the coalition of aggression and its crimes, actions, goals, and unjust endeavors—such institutions have no value and deserve no consideration. They themselves practice injustice, unlawfully target peoples, occupy countries, and commit the most heinous crimes against humanity. So, our people's position is legitimate and just, and it is also a holy Jihad in every sense of the word. That is why it is the honorable position we should adhere to with steadfastness, as it is a responsibility and Jihad in the cause of Allah (Glory be to Him).

As for all the attempts to distort and confuse this position, they are exposed. Some of these attempts are introducing the aggression against our country and what is taking place with it as internal issues between the Yemenis, addressing them from here or there to come to an understanding, to reach settlement, and to solve their internal problem. These attempts are exposed, since it is completely clear that there is an external aggression declared since its first day by known parties from outside our country. This aggression had been declared in Washington before any party from Yemen claimed responsibility for it. It was declared in Washington! It was a Saudi declaration from Washington. This step might be unprecedented in the history of mankind for a country to declare war on another country from a third country: to go to Washington to declare war on Yemen— {'And Allah is powerful in [enforcing] His command'}[Yusuf 12:21]. So, this step revealed the nature of the role played by America: It plays the main role in this aggression against our country.

The aggression was declared in America in English. Indeed, the aggression against our country was declared in America and under American supervision. Also, the American role in the aggression against our country (as a main role) is clear and exposed in the confessions and statements of American officials, so is its involvement: Most of the weapons with which our people are killed are American weapons; most of the bombs that have torn the body parts of our children and have killed our people in various Yemeni governorates are American bombs launched by American fighters and warplanes with American training and under American supervision, and even identifying targets on the ground are being carried out by the Americans. So the obvious and overt American roles are too great to be covered or hidden; however, it is customary for enemies to try to create confusion and distort the national position, which is truly facing a foreign aggression in every sense of the word.

America, through its aggression carried out through its agents, or rather its proxies—they are not even in the rank of agents—has clearly sought, since the first day, to occupy our country and control its islands, waters, seaports, airports, sources of oil wealth, and strategic locations in order to build military bases. This has been clear since the first day, and what happened in Socotra and Mayon islands and in Al-Mahra and Hadramout clearly reveals these facts and bears witness to them.

As for the role of traitors from the sons of our country, it is no different from the role of other traitors in any country that suffers from occupation and external aggression: It is a role that does not go beyond recruiting themselves for the aggression against their homeland and their people, fighting for enabling the coalition to occupy the country, then guarding its military bases and headquarters, and adopting heinous measures such as the blockade, as well as adopting media support and justifying the enemies' crimes, just as what those who stood with Britain did during the days of its occupation of parts of the country, large parts of the country, when they fought for it, worked for it, were among its servants, mobilized people for it, and made society easier for them to control. It is not different from that role in anything

These are facts about the position of our dear people, making it clear that it represents a legitimate and right position, a just cause, and a faith-based, religious, humanitarian, moral, and patriotic responsibility and that it was taken through the grace of Allah (Glory be to Him). It is also a position adopted in the face of an external aggression carried out by those who are enemies to the entire Islamic Ummah and who target it as a whole.

Highlighting the terrible and brutal crimes committed by the coalition of aggression against our people is among the important points that we usually focus on during this occasion. These crimes due to their horror, atrocity, and abundance have reached the point that they are impossible to be denied or covered, and the whole world was forced to admit their horror despite the huge amounts of money that was paid to cover up and justify them. It is well known all over the world that the coalition of aggression has committed the most heinous crimes against our people. These very terrible crimes clearly bear witness to the oppression committed against our people and indicate the injustice and falsehood of the coalition of aggression. These crimes tell plainly that this coalition is the oppressor, the aggressor, and the criminal while our people are the oppressed and have all the right to defend themselves, their land, their dignity, their freedom, their independence, and their legitimate rights.

The coalition of aggression's crimes against our people included genocides, the mass killing of our dear people, and the direct targeting with bombs and means of killing and destruction against residential neighborhoods, homes, markets, social events, schools, mosques, hospitals, and roads in most Yemeni governorates with the aim of killing the largest number of people. The tragic video scenes were shared and displayed acts of aggression and what those airstrikes left of martyrs and wounded people, as well as heartbreaking scenes that can evoke the human emotions of anyone who still has a shred of humanity, human conscience, or dignity—such scenes evoke the living consciences and shed light on those murders of thousands of children and women that were documented, published, and watched by the whole world. So which of them do you deny? Or which of them can you justify?

The crimes of the aggression involved the economic warfare:

  • through imposing a blockade, conspiring against our people and their livelihood, denying them their own national wealth, and deliberately seeking to starve them;
  • obstructing the delivery of food and medical supplies to the governorates, which made it impossible for people to have access to such supplies without significant cost and high prices which many of the people cannot afford;
  • destroying the markets, lorries, and means of transportation that carry goods;
  • targeting bridges, transport routes, factories, ports, farms, and livestock (like chicken, cattle, and sheep farms) including livestock owned by nomads even in wastelands;
  • and seeking to deny people all of their national wealth, dry up revenues, and deprive employees from their salaries.
Actually, all these matters are clear and well-known facts; the scenes of those terrible crimes have been broadcasted, recorded as video scenes, circulated, and watched by the whole world. So which of them do you deny? Or which of them can you justify?

In addition, the crimes of the aggression also included preventing [Yemeni] citizens from travel and movement for treatment or for their life affairs by air and land. That has caused great sufferings, including the deaths of thousands of patients due to their inability to travel, travel ban, and lack of medical supplies in the country.

These are clear, established, and video-documented facts. So, which of them do you deny? Or which of them can you justify?

Moreover, the crimes of the aggression involved targeting health and education:

  • shelling and destroying many schools and some universities,
  • shelling and destroying many hospitals and health centers,
  • and working on drying up the funding through economic targeting of health and education.
  • This can be seen in the steadfastness of our people in adhering to its position to confront the aggression and resist the enemies. In spite of the killing, destruction, blockade, media attack, and the fifth column activities by the hypocrites, fear-spreading people, those who discourage people, and those with sickness in their hearts, our dear people were determined to confront the aggression. This was obvious in the continued support for the fronts through support convoys, mobilization, and general participation in the fronts during the most prominent stages and in the face of the most serious challenges, as well as through demonstrations, huge attendance on the ground, and standing up to those who stir up internal sedition, as in the December sedition and others;
  • the steadfastness in the fronts and the courage, dedication, and heroic acts of the mujahidin among the army and the people, whose scenes spread, reached all over the world, and deemed exemplary, and this includes the various fronts throughout the country;
  • also, of the manifestations of steadfastness is our troops stationed on all fronts during this long time and in spite of the prolonged aggression—they showed patience in the face of difficult circumstances, the kind of patience expected from those stationed troops who remain patient in the face of all various circumstances and troubles while they are stationed on all fronts (in the deserts, valleys, mountains, cities, villages, and coasts) in the geographically diverse areas of the country, despite everything they suffer, such as lack of nutrition, equipment, capabilities, and all other things they face with endurance;
  • of the manifestations of patience and steadfastness is the steadfastness of the families of martyrs, who present the finest examples in their patience, their satisfaction with the sacrifices they made and with Allah (Glory be to Him), their pride in those sacrifices, their patience in the face of the difficult circumstances, their steadfastness, their cohesion, and the strength of their position;
  • the steadfastness of the wounded and the captives, as well as their families and the families of those stationed in the fronts as they stick to patience in the face of difficult circumstances and great suffering;
  • of the manifestation of steadfastness is the military industrialization, the development of military capabilities, especially the development of missile capabilities, and moving to achieve that in very difficult circumstances and with very limited capabilities;
  • and of the manifestations of steadfastness is the steadfastness of public employees in carrying out their official work without salaries and the dedication of those loyal among them to serving their people despite the great suffering.
These are clear, established, video-documented, and well-known facts. They are known to the whole world. So which of them do you deny? Or which of them can you justify?

The crimes of the aggression also involved targeting water services (like water distribution tanks, wells, etc.) and aimed at making residents suffer even in getting water, even a sip of water, and in securing water to meet their basic needs.

These are clear, established, and video-documented facts. So, which of them do you deny? Or which of them can you justify?

The targeting carried out by the coalition of aggression targeted all aspects of life, even shelters for the blind, children's schools, and schools for teaching the Quran. It also included antiquities, Islamic monuments, cemeteries, and mosques (Allah's holy houses). In addition, there are documented scenes of destruction, showing mosques destroyed and copies of the Quran scattered and torn. So, which of them do you deny? Or which of them can you justify?

These are just headlines, and our concerned brothers in the various state institutions speak these days about huge statistics of these headlines, which are thousands in number (enormous numbers) and about the great details that happened in all these headlines that our people know and experience firsthand.

The National Day of Steadfastness is an event to demonstrate the steadfastness, cohesion, and resilience of our people:

The outcome of the steadfastness of our dear people is the failure of the coalition of aggression to achieve its goals through this aggression. It was seeking to occupy all our country, control all our people (in a way that grants it complete control without facing any confrontation, resistance, Jihad, or anything that would hinder it from achieving its goal from that), and to gain a firm foothold in order to move afterwards to establish military bases, plunder and exploit the national wealth, and torture the people while they are in a state of surrender and stagnation. However, it failed in that, and the strategic depth of this country remained a base for liberating the rest of the country and the occupied areas.

Due to the obvious failure, which has become recognized and known worldwide, the enemies seek other options and tactics. As for the regional executors, who are the Saudis and Emiratis, it has become obvious that what they gained from executing this aggression is significant losses and that they have needlessly got themselves into great trouble without any necessity. So, the Americans in particular, along with the British and the Israelis, seek to push the regional executors to continue the aggression, as they did at the beginning of the aggression when they pushed them to launch this aggression, which was announced from America and adopted and supervised by America. Today, the Americans want the Saudi regime to continue, even though it feels that it is a loser in this aggression, does not need it, does not benefit from it, and can face serious consequences in terms of its security, economy, stability, etc. However, America has no problem with the consequences and implications for its proxies; what is important to it is the interests it gains.

The steadfastness of our people and their dependence on Allah must continue; we all must continue our efforts to reap the fruit of victory after it became clear that the enemies have failed and become in an awful predicament. The coalition has no solution but to stop the aggression and the blockade and end the occupation.

After showing patience and experiencing great sacrifices and suffering, which resulted into the failure of the enemies and their certainty of failure and led to the exposure of their loss, we must continue our steadfastness and resilience, as we have seen its positive, great, and important result. As for the enemies, their way out of their predicament is to stop their aggression, to stop their siege, and to end their occupation of what they have occupied of our country.

If the tactics of the collation of aggression are to continue its blockade and keep [the country] into a no-war and no-peace state, then this is not acceptable. To us, the blockade is essential part of the war against our country and of the aggression against our people. Continuing to deprive our people of their national wealth (which is their right, property, and entitlement) while they suffer the most severe suffering in their living reality is part of the aggression against our people; seeking to stir up internal sedition and targeting the country's security is part of the aggression against our country, as well. So if the enemies intend to move in this way as circumvention, they must realize that we can never accept it. This is a state of war, and we will face it as a state of war against our dear people.

After all this obvious failure of the coalition of aggression, I advise the Saudis and the Emiratis and say to them:

You have no justification for continuing to carry out the aggression to serve the interest of the Americans, the British, and the Israelis, for your continuation means your inevitable loss. So stop your aggression, take the talks seriously, fulfil the prisoners' agreement, and end the siege. These are necessary entitlements. Otherwise, you get yourself into a quandary that is not for your own good. The path to peace is by ending the aggression, the siege, and the occupation; starting reconstruction; compensating for damages; and completing the prisoner swap process. These are objective determinants necessary for achieving a just peace and cannot be compromised. As for our Yemeni people, injustice and aggression has been committed against them without any right, and they have not waged war on a foreign country, neither from its neighbors nor from others, or constitute a threat to their Arab and Islamic surroundings. Rather, they rely on a principled and faith-based standpoint in adopting their positions towards the nation's issues, foremost of which is Palestine, and they also adopt the principle of Islamic brotherhood with the rest of the Islamic countries from the same standpoint. To us, these are fundamental principles that no one can force us to abandon.

At the end of this speech, we thank all those who stood and are still standing with our people in their ordeal and oppression, particularly the Islamic Republic of Iran, which officially and popularly took a distinct, humane, and moral stance to support our people, at a time when the rest of the Arab and Islamic regimes were either a supporter of the aggression or a silent observer who let our people down. And this is expected from the Islamic Republic, which is the greatest supporter of the Palestinian people and the Ummah's oppressed peoples in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and other countries. We also thank Hezbollah in Lebanon and His Eminence Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah for his courageous, humane, moral, and faith-based stance in supporting our oppressed people, and we thank the free people of Iraq, all those peoples, and freedom-loving people from the sons of our Islamic Ummah who have expressed solidarity with our country in all forms of assistance, sympathy, and solidarity.

I call on our dear people to go out tomorrow afternoon (Allah willing) in a massive way in the capital, Sana'a, and the various governorates to announce to the whole world their adherence to their just cause, to warn the coalition of aggression against continuing the siege, aggression, and occupation, to express their adherence to their freedom, independence, and dignity, to make clear that there is no room for compromise, and to affirm their trust in Allah (Glory be to Him) and their reliance on His support.

We are coming in the ninth year with an organized, believing army, which gained eight-year field experience and enjoyed faith instruction—an army that has embodied its true affiliation to the Yemen of faith through its steadfastness, sacrifices, service in the battlefield, patience, and its transition from the defense tactic to the attack tactic and major operations.

We are coming with a lethal, long-range, precise-hit, highly destructive missile arsenal that will reach all enemy installations on which they depend to finance their aggression and that is capable (Allah willing) of tearing the tissues of the milking udder that produces milk for America and Britain and cutting off the hand of the milkers.

We are coming with various, advanced drones that cross the airspace of the aggressors and bypass all their defenses to reach the intended targets with greater precision and destructive power.

We are coming with unique naval and land-marine capabilities that reach every target in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, and all the islands. We are coming with a believing and valiant naval force.

We are coming in the ninth year—through our reliance on Allah (Glory be to Him); our trust in Him; the awareness of our dear people; their cohesion, patience, and faith; the coherence of their internal situation; and concerted efforts—to reap the fruit of steadfastness, which is victory and the achievement of legitimate goals and the basic entitlements of our people and our country in war represented in freedom, independence, and dignity.

At the end, we ask Allah (Glory be to Him) in this blessed month to support our people, have mercy on our martyrs, set free our captives, and grant us success in seeking what pleases Him.

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
