IRGC Navy seizes oil tanker in Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN May 03. 2023 (Saba) - The Iranian Revolutionary Guards' naval force has seized an oil tanker in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz.

Fars News Agency said the naval force of the Revolutionary Guards seized an oil tanker in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, pointing out that more details in this regard will be announced later.

In turn, the Public Prosecution and the Revolutionary Courts in Tehran announced the arrest of an oil tanker ship belonging to the state of Niue, based on a judicial complaint by the implementation of the Revolutionary Guards' naval force against it.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted the media center of the judiciary, in a statement, as saying the operation to stop this ship took place in the Strait of Hormuz by the naval authorities of the Revolutionary Guards.

The statement added the detained Niue ship was flying the flag of Panama when it was crossing the Strait of Hormuz, before it was detained by the decision of the Iranian judicial authorities.

The US terrorist Central Command (CENTCOM) published a video clip of the seizure of the oil tanker and announced that its name was Niovi and it was traveling through the Strait of Hormuz under the Panama flag, but the aforementioned video has not yet been confirmed.

Several days ago, the Iranian army's naval force seized a foreign oil tanker in the Sea of Oman.

According to the Iranian military's announcement, the violating oil tanker flying the flag of the Marshall Islands collided with an Iranian launch in the Gulf waters, killing two people and injuring several other crew members.

In the aforementioned operation, the 'Binder' destroyer of the Iranian Navy stopped the violating ship carrying the flag of Marshall and led it to the coastal waters of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
