Strong earthquake hits northern coast of Japan & reports of material losses
[06/ May/2023]

TOKYO May 06.2023 (Saba) - A strong earthquake hit the coast of northern Japan today, Saturday, without issuing warnings of a "tsunami" and recording material losses, while no loss of life was recorded.
The Japan Meteorological Administration stated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale, and struck the coast of Aomori Prefecture at a depth of 70 km.
This earthquake comes a few hours after the exposure of the western regions of Japan to another earthquake measuring 6.3 degrees.
Aftershocks hit Japan a day after a strong earthquake killed at least one person, while officials continue today to assess the damage caused by the destruction of a number of buildings.
More than 50 aftershocks occurred on Saturday morning, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, which warned that heavy rains could lead to landslides in the region.
