KABUL July 13. 2023 (Saba) - Two children were killed and another was injured in a landmine explosion left over from previous wars in Nangarhar province, eastern Afghanistan.
Afghan media reported that innocent children found a toy-like object and started playing with it, but the object suddenly exploded, killing the two children instantly and seriously injuring another in Achin district of the province.
This is the second such incident in the newly war-torn Afghanistan, as a similar explosion occurred in Faryab province, killing three children and injuring three others 10 days ago.
Afghanistan is one of the most mine-affected countries in the world, with dozens of people, mostly children, killed and maimed every month by blasts caused by unexploded ordnance left over from the previous four decades of war and civil conflict.
