SANA'A November 25. 2023 (Saba) - His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Chairman of the Supreme Political Council, affirmed that Islam gave women a great status, and defined their responsibilities and the nature of their participation, making them occupy the rank and position they deserve.
This came in a speech by President Al-Mashat, delivered on his behalf by the Minister of Human Rights in the caretaker government, Ali Hussein Al-Dailami, today at the opening of the National Conference on Women and Girls as Partners in Construction and Development, which is organized over two days by the Ministry of Human Rights in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund and UNICEF.
His Excellency President Al-Mashat said, “Islam has given women a great status, and has defined their responsibilities and the nature of their participation, in a way that makes them occupy the rank and position they deserve, contrary to what happens in some Western societies, for example, which professionalize women and treat them as a commodity, and then in return, false headlines are promoted.” Such as “women’s rights” at a time when they are exposed to the most horrific types of humiliation and belittlement.”
He pointed out that Yemeni and Palestinian women were subjected to all types and forms of psychological and physical violence, and tens of thousands of Yemeni and Palestinian women were killed and buried under the rubble of bombing in homes, farms, markets, and facilities, with American-Israeli sponsorship, international silence, and no one to support them.
He pointed out that the most dangerous type of violence to which women are exposed to in Yemen and Palestine is international violence by ignoring the crimes and violations they are exposed to and justifying their killing in Yemen or Palestine by claiming that it is in accordance with international law.
He reiterated, “We see that the solutions lie in our Qur’anic culture and our orientation towards natural instinct, which is the culture that guarantees the short and long term.” He expressed the hope that the proceedings of the conference sessions will yield objective recommendations that can be built upon to develop and update laws and procedures related to women according to priorities. Related to the national reality and the true Islamic religion.
At the conclusion of his speech, the President of the Supreme Political Council pointed out that Yemeni society is based on the true Islamic religion, which gave women a great status and defined their responsibilities and the nature of their participation, making them occupy the rank and position they deserve.
