MANILA December 02. 2023 (Saba) -The US Geological Survey announced that a 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the island of Mindanao in the eastern Philippines, today, Saturday.
The center said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 32 kilometers at about 22:37 local time (14:37 GMT) in an area located about 21 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan.
The center confirmed that there have been no reports yet of damage or injuries.
For its part, the Philippine authorities warned of a "devastating tsunami" and urged people in coastal areas to flee inland.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said on the "X" website after the quake: "A devastating tsunami is expected and waves that are life-threatening are expected."
