China plans to launch new space rocket for first time this year
[28/ February/2024]
BEIJING February 28. 2024 (Saba) - The China Space Science and Technology Administration (CASC) has confirmed that Beijing is determined to launch this year, for the first time, a new liquid-fueled dual-stage CZ-12 rocket.

In a report published on Feb. 26, the administration announced that it plans to launch the missile from the People's Republic of China's only private civilian airport, located in the city of Wenchang on the northeast coast of Hainan Island, which was built at the end of last year.

The department said all design and development work has been completed for the CZ-12 rocket, which is still in the testing phase before being launched into space.

The new rocket is capable of delivering at least ten tons of useful payload to low-Earth orbit and at least six tons to geostationary orbit synchronous with the sun.

The missile could be 5.2 and 4.2 meters in diameter, but those specifications could change depending on the tasks it performs, the report said.

It is worth noting that China launched about 67 space rockets in 2023, and their number is scheduled to increase in 2024 to about 100.
