Russian Defense announces implementation of test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile

MOSCOW April 13. 2024 (Saba) -The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian army conducted a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile from a mobile ground-based missile system from the test range "Kapustin Yar".

"On April 12, 2024, a combat crew of the Strategic Missile Forces successfully launched an intercontinental ballistic missile belonging to a mobile land-based missile system, from the fourth central Kapustin Yar state field in the Astrakhan region," the ministry said in a statement.

The Russian defense stressed that, "as specified, all launch missions have been fully carried out, and the results confirm the high reliability of the weapon, and that it guarantees the strategic security of the country.

In early March, the Russian Nuclear Strategic Forces announced a successful training launch of the Yaris intercontinental solid-fuel rocket from the Plesetsk space airport in northwestern Russia to its far east.

The ministry pointed out that the launch was made from a mobile platform.

She praised the performance of the qualified missile crews who successfully completed this training mission.

The Yaris is a strategic intercontinental ballistic missile, caliber of 1.86 meters, length of 17.8 meters, weight at launch 46 tons, and weight of combat warheads 1250 kilograms.

The engines of the Yaris rocket are powered by solid fuel and can be launched to a range of ten thousand kilometers.
