WARSAW May 1. 2024 (Saba) - Poland announced today the deployment of its forces in the Warmian-Masuria border province with Russia as part of the NATO “Standing Defender 2024” exercises, which will take place from May 4 to 6.
The Supreme Command of the Polish Armed Forces said in a statement that it deployed its forces in the region, as part of exercises between May 4 and 6 in the regions of the provinces of West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, and Warmian-Masuria.
About 50 ships, 80 aircraft, and 1.1 thousand units of ground military equipment, including 133 tanks and about 90,000 soldiers, participate in the maneuvers.
Training locations include the Baltic states, Poland and Germany.
In recent years, Russia has reported unprecedented NATO activity on its western border.
NATO continues to expand eastward, as Finland and Sweden, neighboring Russia, have joined the alliance in ongoing military maneuvers near the Russian border.
Moscow has repeatedly expressed its concern about the buildup of NATO forces in Europe.
The Kremlin indicated that Russia does not threaten anyone, but it will not ignore measures that may pose a threat to its interests.
