STOCKHOLM May 09. 2024 (Saba) - Thousands of pro-Palestinian supporters demonstrated in Malmö, Sweden on Thursday to protest the participation of the occupying entity in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The pro-Palestinian supporters, who waved large Palestinian flags, gathered in the historic Stortorgate Square ahead of a planned march through the city.
The supporters chanted "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be liberated!" and "Israel is a terrorist state," and fired smoke bombs in the colours of the Palestinian flag during a noisy peaceful march to criticize Israel and demand a ceasefire in Gaza.
There was a heavy police presence, with a helicopter flying and officers deployed on rooftops.
Israel which occupies the Palestine territories and the Golan Heights is one of 37 countries taking part in Eurovision, whose final competition takes place on Saturday.
