GAZA May 21. 2024 (Saba) - The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has denounced the deliberate and severe aggression by the Zionist enemy on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, forcing medical staff and patients to evacuate amidst the shelling.
In a statement issued Tuesday evening, the ministry revealed that the enemy forces targeted the hospital, where approximately 150 medical personnel of various specialties were present, along with dozens of patients and casualties in intensive care and surgery, and several children in the nurseries.
The ministry reported that the staff worked under extremely difficult conditions to transfer patients and casualties to other treatment centers, posing a significant risk to their health, in addition to the continuous enemy fire surrounding the hospital and the access roads.
It emphasized that the Zionist aggression on Kamal Adwan and al-Awda hospitals adds to a long series of deliberate Zionist atrocities against the healthcare system in Gaza and the West Bank, resulting in 22 hospitals going completely out of service, with 14 still operating partially under extremely critical conditions due to the escalation of aggression, shortages in personnel, equipment, medicine, and the large number of patients and casualties.
Since October 7th, more than 500 medical personnel have been martyred in Gaza and the West Bank due to Zionist aggression, the latest being the medical martyr Assid Jabarin, who was killed by enemy forces in Jenin Tuesday morning while heading to work at Jenin Governmental Hospital.
The Ministry of Health has issued an urgent appeal to the international community, international human rights organizations, and all health organizations, urging them to increase pressure on the authorities of the enemy to halt their deliberate aggression against the healthcare sector in all its components and to provide urgent protection in accordance with international humanitarian law and international agreements.
