AP condemns closure of Zionist enemy's live broadcast in Gaza, seizure of its equipment
[21/ May/2024]

GAZA May 21. 2024 (Saba) - The Associated Press on Tuesday condemned in the strongest terms the actions taken by the Zionist enemy government, the closure of its long-running live broadcast showing a view of Gaza, and the seizure of the agency's equipment.

The agency confirmed in a statement that the closure was not based on the content of the broadcast, but rather on the arbitrary use by the government of the Zionist enemy of the new foreign broadcasting law.

The agency urged the authorities of the Zionist enemy to return the equipment and enable them to re-broadcast live immediately, so that they can continue to provide this important visual content to thousands of media outlets around the world.

In turn, the so-called Israeli Minister of Communications, Shlomo Karei, accused the Associated Press of providing live broadcasts to thousands of its news agents, saying in a statement: "The confiscated camera is broadcast live from the northern Gaza Strip, including the activities of the Zionist forces and is endangering soldiers.

In contrast, the Associated Press asserted that it "abides by Zionist military censorship rules, which prohibit the broadcast of details such as troop movements," and that "the live broadcast only showed smoke rising over the area."

This comes within the framework of the Zionist enemy's attempt to obscure what is happening in the Gaza Strip, after facing a wave of global anger that exceeded all expectations, caused by the images received from the Gaza Strip, which show the extent of the criminality of the Zionist enemy since the beginning of its aggression on the Strip.

In November 2023, the "Zionist Occupation Cabinet" approved the suspension of the work of the Al-Mayadeen Media Network in occupied Palestine, after a proposal from the Minister of Information of the Zionist enemy due to the damage caused by Al-Mayadeen to "Israel's security", as he described.

In a joint statement by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Communications Minister Shlomo Karei, the decision was justified by saying that "the Minister of Communications in the said case, after the approval of the Council of Ministers, may order by decree the closure of offices, the confiscation of broadcasting equipment, and the prohibition of the use of the various communications infrastructure of the broadcasting corporation," in accordance with the "emergency regulations" of the entity and its government.

The Zionist statement pointed out that these instructions and measures against the squares have been stipulated since 2018.
