DACCA May 27. 2024 (Saba) - Bengali authorities evacuated nearly 800,000 people, as a devastating cyclone hit coastal villages and left hundreds of thousands of people in the country and India in dark.

The severe hurricane "Remal" made landfall in the Bengal southern coast around 8:30 pm on Sunday, and is expected to take 5 to 6 hours to pass the coastal area, the country's meteorology authority said.

Tens of coastal villages were flooded with rainwater and dams were swept away or damaged by floods left by the severe storm, local media reported, noting that seven people were killed.
