The Enemy commits war crimes, genocide in Rafah
[28/ May/2024]

SANA'A May 28. 2024 (Saba) - The Zionist enemy continues its terrorism, brutal crimes, and unprecedented genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the enemy, especially children and women, was targeted by deliberate bombing of residential neighborhoods and refugee camps in the Strip, disregarding international resolutions and relying on American support in the aggression.

Palestinian media reported that the Zionist enemy committed a new war crime and genocide last night, as its planes bombed displaced camps with American bombs in an area it claimed was classified among what it calls “safe areas” northwest of the city of Rafah, an area crowded with tents housing hundreds of thousands of displaced people.

It added: The massacre led, in an initial toll, to the death of more than 40 martyrs, the majority of whom were women and children, the injury of dozens, and the outbreak of large and massive fires that destroyed the displaced, their tents, and their property.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza stated: Ambulance crews are at a loss to transport the martyrs and wounded as a result of the lack of a hospital in the city of Rafah that can accommodate these large numbers.

In turn, the media office in Gaza announced that the Zionist enemy bombed more than ten UNRWA displacement centers during the past hours, which it previously claimed were “safe areas.”

The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of martyrs in the Zionist bombing of Rafah had reached 40 and that there were dozens of wounded, indicating that it was facing difficulties in reaching the wounded due to the direct targeting of its crews.

In turn, the Palestinian Red Crescent said in a statement: The area targeted by the Zionist enemy in Rafah is a humanitarian zone to which the Palestinians were previously forced to migrate.

The United Nations Special Rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, described the Zionist entity’s bombing of a displaced persons camp in Rafah as a blatant challenge to international law and order.

Albanese said in a post on the “X” platform: The genocide in Gaza will not end without external pressure, and sanctions must be imposed on the Zionist enemy entity, and investments, agreements, trade, and partnerships with it must be suspended.

For its part, Amnesty International called on the International Criminal Court to investigate war crimes committed by the Zionist entity in the Gaza Strip.

The organization said in a statement: Three Zionist raids on the central and southern Gaza Strip last April led to the death of 44 civilians, including 32 children, and that these raids took place on April 16 in the Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, also on April 19 and 20 in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Amnesty International official Erika Guevara Rosas said in a statement: “These devastating strikes destroyed families and claimed the lives of 32 children,” stressing that the organization’s investigation provides “basic evidence indicating illegal attacks attributed to the Zionist occupation army.”

It explained that in the three cases, “the organization did not find any evidence of the presence of military targets in the sites targeted by the Zionist occupation army or in their vicinity,” noting that it has not yet received responses to its questions from the occupation army.

The Zionist enemy continues to target refugee camps, and it continues its aggression against hospitals in various regions of the Gaza Strip, besieging them, putting them out of service, carrying out brutal acts, and committing massacres and genocide against civilians, most of whom women and children, as the number of child martyrs reached more than ten thousand, according to Palestinian and international sources.

Newborn children in the Gaza Strip were not spared from the Zionist aggression and found themselves in a difficult battle to survive.

Health data issued by UNICEF show that about 20,000 children were born under the Zionist aggression since its outbreak in the Gaza Strip.

According to UNICEF, there are about 60,000 pregnant women in the Gaza Strip, with an average of 180 births per day, they face many challenges, including malnutrition, dehydration, and acute food poverty.

Last Friday, the International Court of Justice, the highest judicial body in the United Nations, ordered the Zionist entity, the occupying power, to immediately stop its military operations in the Rafah governorate, and the necessity of maintaining the opening of the Rafah crossing, to enable the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

The Zionist enemy has continued its aggression against the Gaza Strip, by land, sea, and air, since the seventh of last October, which resulted in the martyrdom of 35,984 Palestinian citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 80,643 others, an infinite toll, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble.

As a result of the aggression and restrictions of the Zionist enemy for more than seven months, the people of the Gaza Strip are suffering from an imminent “famine” due to the restrictions imposed by the enemy entity on the supplies of food, water, medicine, and fuel, which has caused the death of a number of children and the elderly.

The population of the northern Gaza Strip, numbering about 700 thousand people, also suffers from a severe shortage of food and vegetables, as a result of the continued closure of the border crossings by the Zionist entity and the failure of trucks to enter the north, which brings the “specter of famine” back to the forefront, according to local officials and international organizations.

Children constitute about half of Palestinian society, and the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics said in a statement: It is expected that the number of children under the age of 18 years in mid-2024 in the State of Palestine will reach 2,432,534 children (1,364,548 children in the West Bank, and 1,067,986 children in the Gaza Strip), and a percentage of Children in Palestine constitute about 43 percent of the total population (41 percent in the West Bank and 47 percent in the Gaza Strip).

A group coordinated by the United Nations, which includes 15 international organizations and UN agencies investigating the hunger crisis in Gaza, reported on March 18, 2024, that “all evidence indicates a significant acceleration in deaths and malnutrition.”

In northern Gaza, where about 70 percent of the population suffers from catastrophic hunger, famine could occur at any time between mid-March and May, the group said.

International humanitarian law prohibits the starvation of civilians as a means of warfare, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court stipulates that intentionally starving civilians “by depriving them of materials indispensable to their survival, including intentionally obstructing relief supplies,” constitutes a war crime.

The effects of the restrictions were exacerbated by the actions of the Zionist enemy that undermined the ability of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to carry out its recognized role in distributing aid in Gaza.
