BEIJING May 30. 2024 (Saba) - Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the necessity of halting Zionist aggression and ending the suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip Thursday.
During the opening of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum in Beijing, Xi announced that his country would provide an additional urgent humanitarian aid package worth three million dollars to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to support humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
In a related context, President Xi stated that Beijing "will provide an additional 500 million yuan to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support reconstruction efforts after the war."
President Xi also declared his country's support for the establishment of a Palestinian state with East al-Quds as its capital on the 1967 borders, announcing support for Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations.
Xi warned that justice in the Middle East cannot "forever be absent," calling for a "comprehensive peace conference to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
The Chinese President praised his "deep affinity" with Arab countries, stating that "the friendship between China and the Arab peoples stems from friendly exchanges along the ancient Silk Road."
