Meteorology expects hot weather, active winds during next 72 hours

SANA'A May 30. 2024 (Saba) -The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning predicted hot weather in deserts, interior plateaus and coastal areas, and active winds blowing over desert areas, the Socotra archipelago and the coasts during the next 72 hours.

The center stated in its weather bulletin, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that dry, hot to very hot weather is expected in the deserts and interior plateaus, with maximum temperatures ranging between 39 - 44 degrees Celsius.

Hot and humid weather is also expected in the coastal areas and plains and the Socotra archipelago, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35-40 degrees Celsius.

The center indicated the possibility of strong winds on the Socotra archipelago exceeding 30 knots, and moderate to active on the eastern and southern coasts, the Gulf of Aden and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab.

Active northeasterly winds are likely to blow over desert areas, raising dust and sand.

The center warned citizens of hot and very hot weather and advised not to be directly exposed to sunlight at noon, and to drink plenty of water and fluids.

He also warned sea-goers, fishermen and shipmasters of sea turbulence and high waves around the Socotra archipelago, the eastern and southern coasts, the Gulf of Aden and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab.
