Security Council votes today on draft resolution to stop aggression on Rafah
[30/ May/2024]

NEW YORK May 30. 2024 (Saba) - The UN Security Council will vote on Thursday on an Algerian draft resolution to stop the ongoing Zionist-American aggression on Rafah.

According to media reports, the draft resolution states that the Security Council may "decide that Israel, the occupying Power, must immediately cease its military offensive and any further action in Rafah".

The draft resolution demands "an immediate ceasefire respected by all parties, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, and further demands that the parties comply with their obligations under international law with respect to all persons they are holding".

It is noteworthy that this meeting is the first action by the Security Council since the attack launched by the Zionist enemy aircraft on the refugee tents in Rafah, and this meeting will follow other steps that Algeria intends to initiate at the level of the Security Council.

A week ago, the International Court of Justice, the highest judicial body of the United Nations, ordered the Zionist entity, the occupying power, to immediately cease its military operations and any further movement in the Rafah governorate, and the need to maintain the opening of the Rafah crossing, to enable the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Under interim measures, the Court demanded that the Zionist entity, in accordance with its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, take concrete measures to ensure that any commission of inquiry or fact-finding to investigate the United Nations into the accusations of genocide against it had unhindered access.

Despite the UN and international condemnations, the Zionist enemy continues its aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip since the seventh of last October, as the number of martyrs reached 36,171, the majority of whom were children and women, and the number of injuries 81,420, while thousands of victims are still under the rubble, waiting for the world to move seriously to oblige the usurping entity to stop the war of extermination.
