
MALE June 11. 2024 (Saba) The Maldives Parliament approved, on Monday, the necessary amendment to a bill banning holders of "Israeli" passports from entering the country.
The bill, which was submitted to the Cabinet by the Maldivian Democratic Party, the country's main opposition party, was approved by a majority of votes in Parliament.
The bill stipulates that holders of "Israeli" passports are banned from entering the Maldives.
The legal amendment was referred to the Security Committee for review.
The government and opposition members of Parliament called for accelerating the amendment process "in line with the wishes of the government and the people."
After the final vote, all holders of "Israeli" passports, including dual nationals, will be banned from entering the Maldives.
