Russian Foreign Ministry: Risks of direct armed conflict between nuclear powers are currently high
[26/ June/2024]
MOSCOW June 26. 2024 (Saba) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov confirmed that the risks of a direct armed conflict between nuclear powers are high today.

Sputnik quoted Ryabkov as saying on the sidelines of the "Primakov Readings" forum, "We have come to the conclusion that the risks of a direct armed conflict, including between nuclear powers, are high today."

According to him, "the foundations of nuclear deterrence are laid in Russia on the basis of ensuring its security for decades to come."

Ryabkov said on the sidelines of the "Primakov Readings" events: "As the president has repeatedly said, such foundations have been created in recent years, primarily in the field of nuclear deterrence, which allows us to ensure our security for decades to come."

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed yesterday, Tuesday, that the peace proposals put forward by Russia actually provide for ending the conflict in Ukraine.

This statement was made in Putin's address to the participants of the 10th International Forum of Scientific Experts "Primakov Readings" in Moscow.
Putin said: "I hope that, unlike many Western politicians who did not even want to delve into the essence of the initiative we put forward, the participants of the forum will approach it thoughtfully and rationally, and will be able to see that it really provides an opportunity to stop the conflict and move on to its political and diplomatic settlement."

The 10th International Forum of Scientific Experts "Primakov Readings" on the theme "Russia in the Global Context" will be held in Moscow on June 25-26. It is an annual international meeting of experts in the field of international relations and world economy.
