Medical sources: Child killed due to malnutrition, lack of medicine in northern Gaza Strip
[27/ June/2024]

GAZA June 27. 2024 (Saba) - Medical sources in Gaza announced on Wednesday the elevation of a child in Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip due to poor nutrition and lack of medicines.

A few days ago, the same hospital announced that four children had died of hunger and dehydration resulting from the months-long Israeli blockade, which prevented food, medicine and milk from reaching the northern Gaza Strip.

It also pointed to the opening of a special section to receive cases of malnutrition and dehydration, confirming the arrival of hundreds of cases suffering from hunger, thirst and malnutrition, indicating at the same time the death of more than 40 children due to hunger and malnutrition since the start of the aggression on Gaza on the seventh of last October.

For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent stressed that the humanitarian situation in the northern Gaza Strip is catastrophic, in light of hunger, which besieges more than half a million Palestinians, and the Israeli army continues to prevent international organizations from delivering the required quantities of food and medicine to the residents of the northern Gaza Strip.

In turn, the director of the government media office in the Gaza Strip, Ismail Al-Thawabta, said yesterday: "The humanitarian situation has reached a catastrophic stage in the Strip, especially in the Gaza and northern governorates," adding, "We are facing a tragedy and a real disaster, when about 700,000 citizens are starved in the Gaza and northern governorates, this has serious repercussions, especially on the lives of children."
