SANA'A June 27. 2024 (Saba) - A meeting of the committee charged with surveying Qaa Sahaman in Bani Matar district, headed by the Sana’a province Undersecretary for the Services Sector - Member of the Sana’a Basin Committee, Fares al-Kuhali, discussed the mechanisms for assessing the water resources in the bottom.
The meeting reviewed the proposed sites that were identified to be exploited as suitable sources for extracting water from them to serve agriculture in the directorate.
The committee agreed to add three points, according to the attached tables and maps, and summaries of requests and distances, and in accordance with special conditions and controls, to benefit from water sources to serve and encourage farmers.
Al-Kuhali pointed out the state’s intention to preserve agricultural lands and its endeavor to find water projects that contribute to supporting the development of agriculture and achieving food security, especially in fertile agricultural areas, where there are encouraging factors.
He urged the concerned authorities to work according to mechanisms and conditions that guarantee the preservation and sustainability of groundwater in the Sana’a Basin, and contribute to creating an agricultural renaissance to achieve food security and self-sufficiency as one of the most important pillars and components of the development renaissance, by encouraging the cultivation of basic cash crops.
