French far-right national rally party wins first round of parliamentary elections

PARIS July 01. 2024 (Saba) - The far-right National Rally Party and its allies won the first round of the parliamentary elections in France, which were held Sunday.

The French newspaper "Le Parisien," citing data from the Ministry of the Interior on Monday, reported that the National Rally Party and its allied forces secured 33.4% of the votes. This is a significant figure, making the right-wing bloc the largest in the next French parliament.

The New Popular Left Alliance received 27.99% of the votes, while the centrist coalition "Together for the Republic," led by French President Emmanuel Macron, garnered 20.04%.

The French Ministry of the Interior announced that voter turnout in the first round of the early legislative elections reached a record level of 59.39% an hour before the polls closed.
