[02/ July/2024]
TEHRAN July 2. 2024 (Saba) - The Iranian Hajj and Visitation Medical Center on Tuesday announced the death of 23 Iranian pilgrims in Mecca and Mina, and two Iranian pilgrims have also died in Medina since the beginning of Hajj.

23 Iranian pilgrims have died in Mecca and Mina, and two Iranian pilgrims have died in Medina since the beginning of Hajj, Tasnim International News Agency quoted the center as saying in a statement.

So far, 90 Iranian pilgrims have been transported to the country from Jeddah Airport, the center’s statement said.

The number of pilgrims being treated in Saudi hospitals in Mecca and Medina reached 16 and 4, respectively, and 29 in the Red Crescent Hospital in Mecca.

This year, about 87,600 Iranian pilgrims participated in the Hajj ritual. Saudi Arabia announced that the total number of pilgrims attending the Hajj rituals amounts to about 1,800,000 people.

According to the latest statistics, the number of pilgrims who died during this year’s Hajj season reached more than 1,300, for several reasons, most notably the Saudi authorities’ neglect of serving pilgrims.
