ASTANA July 4. 2024 (Saba) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, on Thursday, called for a “multipolar” global order to confront American unilateralism.

During the plenary session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which brings together countries in Central Asia, Putin said that the Astana Declaration "confirms the commitment of all participants in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to form a just, multipolar world order," according to the Russia Today website.

Putin added that the multipolar world has become a reality, and the circle of countries calling for a just world order and ready to defend traditional values is expanding.

For his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that "it is very important for the SCO to place itself on the right side of history, on the side of justice and fairness."

Xi said that the Astana Declaration, which was signed in Astana, sheds light on "seismic changes taking place at the level of global politics and economics and in other fields of international relations," and on the need to "strengthen the Shanghai Cooperation Organization."

It is noteworthy that China and Russia constantly denounce American "hegemony" in international relations, and have pledged to put an end to it.
