SANA'A July 08. 2024 (Saba) - The Educational Affairs Sector - Competition Project Management at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with al-Hikmah University, on Sunday organized a commemorative event marking the noble anniversary of Prophet Muhammad's migration and inaugurating the academic year 1446 AH at the university.

During the inauguration, Dr. Ali Sharaf al-Din, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, emphasized the importance of commemorating the noble occasion of Prophet Muhammad's migration, peace be upon him and his family, to draw lessons, insights, and standpoints that occurred before and after the migration.

He regarded the Prophet's migration as a pivotal station in the Islamic nation's history, offering an important opportunity for personal introspection, starting with one's relationship with Allah and evaluating on a collective level.

He highlighted the significance of recalling milestones from the biography and migration of the Prophet, his message, and his efforts in guiding humanity and rescuing societies from misguidance to guidance.

Sharaf al-Din acknowledged the role of Yemeni migrants (Muhajireen) and supporters (Ansar) in supporting the Prophet during his struggle against his people in Mecca.

He mentioned that the Prophet continued his mission in Mecca for 13 years, with only a few believers responding, foremost among them the Yemenis. Upon migrating to Medina, he successfully spread the Islamic call across the Arabian Peninsula and, with devoted believers, opened the lands of Persia and Byzantium.

He stated, "Today marks the inauguration of the new academic year 1446 AH in both public and private universities, signaling the start of educational operations and teaching across all levels except the first, where the admission and registration process is being completed." He highlighted expansion projects for Al-Hikmah University buildings and facilities during the current year, including the opening of classrooms and annexes meeting academic accreditation standards.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ghaleb al-Qanes, Deputy Head of the Educational Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Higher Education, affirmed the inauguration of the new academic year 1446 AH at all Yemeni universities and the commencement of the new academic year.

He emphasized the importance of commemorating Prophet Muhammad's migration to evoke lessons and insights from his migration and the hardships endured by him and his companions in spreading the Muhammadan message, confirming that the Prophet's migration marked a turning point in Islamic history, not merely a geographic transition but a qualitative leap in the history of the Islamic call.
