HODEIDA July 13. 2024 (Saba) - An awareness and guidance workshop began in Hodeida Province for the segment of poor fishermen benefiting from the “Economic Empowerment” project in the districts of (Al-Lahiyah, Al-Muneera, and Al-Salif), organized on Saturday by the office of the General Authority for Zakat in the province, in cooperation with Tihama Coast Fish Cooperative Society, under the slogan “A Hand that Builds, a Hand that Protects.”
The three-day workshop aims to qualify and train 160 participants from the fishing community on aspects related to the project and work on its sustainability to improve their living situation.
At the opening, the Governor of Hodeidah, Muhammad Ayyash Qahim, praised the efforts made to serve the families of fishermen, enable these poor families to earn a decent livelihood, and enhance the factors of steadfastness in the face of the American-Zionist-Saudi aggression.
While the director of the General Authority for Zakat office in the province, Muhammad Hazza, explained that the workshop includes two educational and guidance tracks.
He pointed out that the economic empowerment project for fishermen includes providing them with fish production and marketing inputs, pointing out that the number of those who will be funded within the project with fishing boats and their accessories is 160 fishermen, supporting about 480 families.
For his part, Secretary General of the Tihama Coast Fish Cooperative Society, Abdul Salam Al-Qa’ishi, praised the project’s interventions and economic empowerment activities for the targeted fishermen and their support with fish production and marketing inputs with the aim of transforming them into productive families. He appreciated the efforts of the General Authority for Zakat in implementing the project and holding the workshop.
