MAHWEET July 16. 2024 (Saba) - The districts of al-Rujm, Mahweet city, and Jabal Mahweet held on Tuesday a cultural event to commemorate Ashura. The gathering featured speeches highlighting the significance of this occasion.
Key figures attending included Judge Ahmed Sharaf al-Din, Ismail Abdelmalik Sharaf, head of the General Mobilization Division, emphasized that the commemoration reflects loyalty to God, His Messenger, Imam Ali, and the imams of the Ahl al-Bayt.
Sharaf highlighted the enduring inspiration drawn from Ashura, particularly its messages of steadfastness, pride, and resilience in the face of American-British Zionist aggression against Gaza and Yemen.
He underscored the revolution of Imam Hussein as a beacon for exposing hypocrisy and resisting tyranny, especially the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people.
Abdullah Al-Shaim, director of the Endowments Office, described Karbala incident as a profound crime targeting Islam and Muslims.
He stressed the importance of learning from Karbala and the neglect of Imam Ali's guardianship.
Al-Shaim also noted that commemorating Ashura serves as a rallying point for resisting oppression in line with Qur’anic principles, embodying the true spirit of jihad against injustice.
