MOSCOW July 16. 2024 (Saba) - The Russian Defense Ministry on Monday said its forces shot down a MiG-29 aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian Air Force, while the total losses of the Ukrainian army during the past day amounted to about 1,900 soldiers.
The Russia Today website quoted the ministry as saying, in its daily report, that its air defenses also destroyed 36 enemy drones and intercepted five missiles from US-made HIMARS rocket launchers.
The ministry added that units of the "North" group of forces struck hostile formations in the Kharkov province, and Ukrainian losses there reached about 200 military, while units of the "West" forces group took control of more suitable sites and targeted enemy formations in Kharkov, Lugansk and Donetsk, where the Ukrainians lost about 585 soldiers, and nine Ukrainian field ammunition depots were destroyed.
The report indicated that units of the "South" group improved their position along the front line and struck enemy troops and military equipment in Donetsk, where enemy losses amounted to about 540 soldiers. Units of the "Central" group also improved their tactical position and struck Ukrainian formations in Donetsk, inflicting losses on the enemy up to 340 soldiers.
The ministry concluded its report by saying that units of the "East" group also improved their position along the front line in Donetsk and Zaporozhe, while Ukrainian forces lost about 125 of their soldiers, while units of the "Dnepr" group targeted hostile formations in Kherson, Ukrainian losses there amounted to about 110 military personnel, and Russian forces hit gatherings of Ukrainian army personnel and equipment in 109 regions.
