UNRWA: Gaza's children live untold horrors after 300 days of war
[01/ August/2024]
NEW YORK August 01. 2024 (Saba) -The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Thursday that "the children of the Gaza Strip are living unspeakable trauma and atrocities, after 300 days of war, displacement, loss and pain."

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said in a statement posted on the X platform: "Today we launched the Return to Learning programme through activities that provide the children of Gaza with refuge from the horrors they continue to endure."

Describing the situation of Gaza's children, the UNRWA Commissioner-General added: "They have witnessed what no child should have witnessed, and they deserve safety."

Through sports, arts, drama, games and creating a space to meet friends and make new friends, "UNRWA teachers provide the children of Gaza with a ray of light in the darkness," according to the same source.

Lazzarini described UNRWA's move to launch the Back to Education programme in Gaza as "a small contribution to help children reconnect with their stolen childhood."

Lazzarini also renewed the call for an immediate ceasefire for the children of Gaza in particular, and for all children in the region in general.

The enemy continues its aggression, ignoring the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council to cease it immediately and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
