Socotra archipelago .. The importance of the site and the multiplication of international ambitions on it
[04/ August/2024]

SANA'A August 04. 2024 (Saba) -The geopolitical importance made the Socotra archipelago the focus of the ambitions of colonial powers seeking areas of influence in the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, and the Arabian Sea.

The most prominent country that has bared its teeth and intervened strongly in the island's pearl in the world, "Socotra", the state of the Emirates, which exaggerated its intervention in the island as an occupying state to the lie of ownership and its miserable attempt to search for a historical relationship between this state and the Socotra archipelago.

Since its intervention today, the UAE has turned the archipelago into a military site and caused serious damage to its environment and reputation as a nature reserve. The worrying thing is that the world is following what the UAE is doing on the island with indifference and suspicious silence.

U.A.E. is a country whose foreign policy does not have a clear strategy and is not governed by constants, this is evident through a series of interventions in many countries, it is not governed by neither national or religious affiliation nor is it a major country looking for markets for its various industrial products, but it was encouraged by the financial abundance it obtained as a result of oil discoveries, which led it to think that it could do what it wanted and impose its presence wherever it wanted.

But concerning its presence on Socotra, it has forgotten that the island is Yemeni land since the creation of Allah Earth and those on it, its roots are linked to Yemeni history and civilization for thousands of years, while the UAE is only seventy years old.

Since the first day of the UAE's occupation of the island, it has made demographic changes in a desperate attempt to remove the island from Yemeni sovereignty, and what confirms this is that what is currently happening on the island is an Emirati occupation that it shared with the Zionist entity through a joint project between them to control the island, which is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

What is certain is that the Emirati and global rush on the island of Socotra comes because of its location in the circle of control over the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Gulf oil flow lines, and international shipping routes in general, this important location of the island has become the subject of colonial international ambitions.

The UAE statelet will not succeed in implementing its colonial plan in Socotra because it lies in the heart, mind, and conscience of millions of Yemenis inside and outside Yemen.
