SANA'A August 05. 2024 (Saba) - The Supreme National Anti-Corruption Authority approved in its weekly meeting on Monday, chaired by Judge Mujahid Ahmed Abdullah, Chairman of the Commission, the referral of 17 defendants in corruption cases to the Specialized Public Funds Prosecution to complete the procedures for initiating and filing a criminal case before the Public Funds Court.
This came after the meeting discussed the results of the investigation procedures carried out by the Authority in coordination with the security and police sector in the Ministry of Interior and the Security and Intelligence Service in many serious corruption cases such as the seizure of public funds, embezzlement, fraud, money laundering, criminal proceeds and smuggling of funds abroad.
The amount of damage in these cases amounted to one billion and 856 million and 364 thousand and 732 riyals, and the amount of two million and 526 thousand and 336 dollars, and 32 million and 124 thousand and 682 Saudi riyals.
The Commission took measures to seize the funds of the defendants at home, track the smuggled funds abroad, and track the fugitive defendants to ensure the recovery of the funds when judicial rulings are issued.
It directed the completion of investigation procedures and investigations into incidents of tax and customs evasion and the tracking of fugitive defendants linked to one of the aforementioned cases.
